The indie-folk band, the latest vehicle of ex-Test Icicle Dev Hynes, played two brand new songs 'Fuck Sucker' and the misleadingly named 'This Song Is Shit' during their headline set at Liverpool's Alma De Cuba club last night (Wednesday).
Neither will appear on their debut album, due out in January, which was recorded almost a year ago in Nebraska with Saddle Creek producer and Bright Eyes member Mike Mogis.
It was also a debut show for the band's new drummer Anna. Dev told VF before the show:
"It's great having her on board as she's learnt from the album. Our set is now
much more faithful to how the album actually sounds. It got a bit too rocky for a while."
As well as the new songs, the capacity crowd were treated to favourites like 'Midnight Surprise' and Strokes
cover 'Heart In A Cage', on which Eugene McGuiness collaborated on vocals.
The one-time Liverpool student played a full set earlier in the evening, as did Emmy The Great, Sonic Hearts, Peter And The Wolf and more.
Wednesday night also saw more venues around the city taking part in the 11-day festival. Liverpool Music Week continues until Sunday night.
