They join the growing lost of recipients which includes the Glastonbury Festival, Lattitude and Leicester's Summer Sundae Weekender.
The 'Red Kite' award is based on a 60 point questionnaire and an A-Z checklist of green measures that ensures festivals are doing their bit to minimise their environmental impact.
It asks festivals to implement a coherent travel policy to promote public transport, encourages reducing
and recycling waste, aims to protect the environment and local wildlife and keep to a minimum their water, land,
air and noise pollution. The award is made by green website www.agreenerfestival.com.
Co-founder Ben Challis said: "Both these festivals are deserving recipients of the Red
Kite award for greener festivals in 2007. Big Chill have great transport policies and their recycling is up to 95% of waste
left on site in some areas.
"Waveform also have great recycling organised by the Maker Green Team and Recycle Now, they manage waste by composting and promote sustainable bio-fuels, public transport and the reduction of the festival's carbon footprint."
The overall Greener Festival 2007 winner will be announced at the UK Festival Awards in November
