Reading Festival: Leave in plenty of time
The council recommend public transport

The Highway Agency and the event’s organisers have teamed up in a bid to minimise any delays.
It is predicted
that the majority of fans will be setting off on Thursday (23 August), which is expected to cause heavy traffic
on major roads such the M4, A4, A33 and A329.
The Highway Agency suggests that those travelling by car with parking
passes should follow their designated route to their allocated car park.

In today’s letter to the Reading Festival punters organiser
Melvin Benn wrote: “The signage is being changed as we speak so please please follow the AA signs
and they will get you there.”
Benn is advising people to use public transport to get
to the site. He also wrote in his letter: “National Express and British Rail are great options.”
As previously
reported, organisers of Reading’s sister leg, Leeds Festival, have asked people to leave their cars at home and
use greener ways of travelling to the festival like coach, train or the lift sharing scheme.
