New 'Alternative Stage' for Carling Weekend

Comedy, collaborations and cabaret for Reading/Leeds

New 'Alternative Stage' for Carling Weekend

07 August 2007

The brand new stage will feature a host of unique musical and multi media collaborations, one-off performances, top name comedy and cabaret and audience Q & A’s.

It comes on top of the 150+ bands already confirmed for the two-legged Carling Weekend, which takes place at Little Johns Farm, Reading, and Bramham Park, Leeds, from 24-26 August.

The majority of the lineup is comedy based, however there will be a number of special one-off collaborations and multi media productions. Big names performing include Simon Amstell, Dirty Sanchez, Ed Byrne and Luke Wright

Both sites will get a real treat in the form of a specially curated night courtesy of Trangressive Records, visiting Leeds on Friday before making the journey south to Reading for the Saturday. Featuring audio visual sets from the Trangressive roster, including the much tipped Battle and Jeremy Warmsley alongside Absentee, 3 Trapped Tigers, Noah And The Whale, Beans On Toast, Lucy And The Caterpillar and Mechnical Bride.

Explaining the one-off performances, label bosses Toby and Tim said: “Our nights at Reading and Leeds will be a snapshot of music in all its incarnations and forms – every act is different to the next, and attempting to do something unique and special. The video footage will see some familiar material aired, and some exclusive imagery and videos that aren’t quite so commonplace. We’re hoping to surprise, and delight, and also make you groove your arse off.”

Other one-off highlights include Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies, Shitmat, Crazy Girl and Dirty Sanchez. See below for the full bill for both festivals...
