We caught up with the Worthy Farm owner on Thursday afternoon as the sun finally came out.
He told VF: "It’s going very well. We’ve got 105,000 people on the site now. Everyone’s coming earlier and despite a bit of rain it’s relatively dry. It’s going to be a great weekend that’s for sure. It’s good now and it hasn’t even begun!"
Hinting at some surprises, he suggested that Saturday night will pose the most difficult choice for music fans, due to the quality of bands on show - The Killers, Iggy & The Stooges and Africa Express.
He said: "Saturday night is going to be a very difficult choice. There are three major headliners who are all going to be amazing."
Asked about comments made by daughter Emily suggesting there could be a few special collaborations, Michael joked: "Everyone’s coming down! There are going to be a lot of surprises. I can’t tell you what’s going on but think of a number and double it!"
One such moment looks to be on the Park Stage on Saturday night when a guest collective called Africa Express will play a five-hour set. The likes of Hard Fi, Martha Wainwright and Damon Albarn are among those expected to be joining a host of African musicians.
Michael said: "Damon's bringing all his mates. They're all coming down together. I can't say any more. Other than that I'm looking forward to Arctic Monkeys and Clearwater Revival."
