18 June 2007
The Leeds band wowed Hyde Park with a headline set of classics and a helping of tracks from their second album ‘Yours Truly Angry Mob’. The five piece set the Sunday party mood from the start with opener ‘Everyday I Love You Less and Less’ before closing the festival with ‘Oh My God’.
Festivals are becoming old hand to Ricky Wilson and co after they headlined the dual in event in their hometown of Leeds the previous night. ‘I Predict a Riot,’ and ‘Ruby’ were crowd pleasers as the revellers continued to party in the rainy capital.
Warming up the evening included a crop of the best in British indie. The Chiefs were preceded by Editors who showcased material from their new album, as well as pleasing the crowds with the big hits from their debut including ‘Munich’ and ‘All Sparks’.
The Cribs also mixed their set with the old and the new as the three Jarmen brothers played ‘Another Number’ and their latest single ‘Men’s Needs’. Meanwhile The Rakes filled the XFM stage and to perform ’22 Grand Job’ and ‘Strasbourg’
Pigeon Detectives, Mumm-Ra,
and The Twang all performed throughout the day with highlight
sets from Good Shoes and Glaswegian three-piece 1990’s.
