This latest revelation came courtesy of Emily Eavis, confiding to Q magazine: "We're really chuffed that we've got The Killers. They broke through on the New Band stage in 2004 and came back the following year on the Main Stage, so they've come up through the festival. They're the right band to headline this year's festival."
Killers guitarist Dave Keuning told Planet Sound: "It's going to be the highlight of touring this album. We turned down headlining in 2005 but, now we've got two albums, we've got enough songs to do it. Our first Glasto was incredible. No American festivals are like it, people camping out three days in the mud. We're going to go all out to be worthy of headlining it."
The Arctic Monkeys are already confirmed to headline the Saturday night, as are The Who for Sunday. Guitarist Pete Townshend said: "This chapter of the band is over in July 2007, so if you want to catch the new Who at their most effective for 20 years, come and join us."
Glastonbury Festival 2007 will take place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset from 22-24 June.
