The Killers for V Festival?

02 January 2007
Britain's favourite tabloid is often wrong when it comes to this kind of thing, however with every new year comes a new round of guessing who'll be headlining festivals - and we're never ones to sit on the sidelines!
The Killers had been long tipped to headline Glastonbury on the Friday night. The story was originally penned by the NME, who's claim that they'd be joined by Bruce Springsteen and Kylie for the 2007 festival is beginning to look like the most ill-founded music story of 2006.
Singer Brandon Flowers has made no secret of his desire to headline Glasto, after turning down the chance of filling in for Kylie in 2005. However, with Michael Eavis declaring all his headliners booked, Flowers' plea to the festival boss seems to have come too late.
It now looks as if V Festival has secured the band to headline one of its two days on the V Stage. If that's the case it is unlikely that The Killers would be allowed to play anywhere else, with V bound to include an exclusivity clause as part of a £1million-plus deal.
However, in 2004 Muse headlined both Glastonbury and V Festival so there's always a chance that they could end up playing at both. Kasabian are the latest band rumoured to be topping the bill at Glastonbury.
Other massive acts rumoured to be headlining one of V Festival's two main stages include Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys and Scissor Sisters.
