The New York pop icons recently admitted they would "give anything" to play next year's event, but don't fancy their chances unless organisers opt for a "really gay" festival.

Speaking at the group's Brixton Academy gig earlier this week, singer Jake Shears said: "I would absolutely love to play Glasto next year but I don't know if it's going to happen.

"I would give anything to do it, but I'm not going to get my expectations up so that way I'm not too disappointed. One of the big problems is that I'm sure Kylie's going to do it this year.

"I can't imagine her not doing it, and unless they want it a really gay Glastonbury then I dunno. I would love to play it."

Emily Eavis recently revealed to VF that Glastonbury organisers have decided on their three headliners, so you can pretty much rule out Scissor Sisters being one of them.

However, she explained that now the 'big three' had been sorted, organisers would be turning their attention to the rest of the lineup. From what we can work out no one has been 100 per cent booked except the headliners, so there's still a strong possibility that Scissor Sisters could play.

If they did, it would be likely to be just before Kylie, who looks certain to headline the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday night. She is known to be a big fan and friends with the band and introduced them at their recent gig in Trafalgar Square. Are we getting ahead of ourselves by predicting a possible collaboration? Probably.

Meanwhile, the Scissor Sisters' Halloween show at Brixton Academy on Tuesday evening has been launched online. Click here to see it.

Glastonbury 2007 takes place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset from 22-24 June. Click here for more, including more rumours as to who might be playing. No acts are confirmed as yet and won't be until the full lineup is unveiled at the beginning of April.
