Kerrang! Weekender comes To Camber Sands!

United Kingdom United Kingdom | by Andrew Future | 27 September 2002

Just when you thought it was safe to pack away your tents and take out your earplugs, the festival season resurfaces for one final, loud and thrilling stab at your inner ears. The first ever Kerrang! Weekender is here to guide us gently into winter, taking over, as it will be, Camber Sands Holiday Centre for three days between Friday 4th and Sunday 6th October.

Leave your tent to fester until next year though, cos you won't need it here. Chalets are on hand to save you getting knee deep in sludge on those lonely drunken trudges back to your campsite at 3am. Just try not to lose the room keys, eh?

At under seventy quid, tickets are very reasonable, though please remember you need to book in groups of at least four. The line up is also pretty damn fine. Witness The Cooper Temple Clause - firm figures at pretty much every event VF has been at this year, headliners at last! Backed by the new young crowd of Kiwi garage monkeys, The Datsuns and The D4, the totally straight and perfectly pretty Lostprophets, Latin metalers Ill Nino, and VF favourites, the delightfully excellent, Hell is For Heroes lead a wild pack of over thirty emerging guitar bands.

Other bands confirmed include Mushroomhead, Vex Red, InMe, Audiovent, My Vitriol, Glassjaw, Taproot, The MovieLife, The Wildhearts, Martin Grech, Wilt and The Darkness, who are superb.

Split between The Big K! Stage and The Kerrang! Club Arena, other attractions include an on-site cinema showing cult classics, go karting and quad biking, as well as wall climbing and pistol shooting. With any luck, all these will be taking place at the same time at exactly the same place. Pistol-shooting-go-karting-quad-racing-up-a-wall!!! Yum. Plus, you get Kerrang! TV in your rooms. (Like you'll be able to focus on the TV.)

It's a great idea, and for those of you with 'ard enough ears for the very best and loudest new rock music, but who are a bit too pussy for a proper outdoor extravaganza, The Kerrang! Weekender will provide all the sweaty spills of Reading and Leeds without the fear of getting your pants muddy, stolen or burned to a crisp in a blazing portaloo.

The event is selling out fast, so find some mates (remember, you'll need at least three, and you'll all have to be over 18), and order your tickets from our online ticket store and get your shooting finger ready to challenge VF on the pistol range! We'll see you there, scarbuddies...
