GLASTONBURY - The Play

John Bownas - 09 September 2002
We know you.
We know that you are in a state of withdrawal. The festival season is over, and it's going to be months before you can struggle
with remembering which poles go where and you have to agonise about whether to see Alabama 3 or Sugababes - who the organisers
have so inconsiderately put on at the same time.
But fear not friends! For Keith Allen, Zoe Lewis and the inimitable Damien Hirst are here to rescue you from months of festivallessness...
GLASTONBURY THE PLAY
Seline Prima is the primadonna starlet trying to gain credibility whilst winding up everyone around her. Freddy went to public school, then dropped out to hippidom - now he's jumped the fence with his circus troupe, intent on performing and having a good time. Marie meets Freddie. Marie is young and hates it. She want EXPERIENCE and soaks it up like a sponge. Champion is Seline's publicist. He hates the mud but loves his client. He's got her to himself (and a couple of hundred thousand fans) for the weekend, but he's also got a girlfriend...Babe - she's a model, and she has pursuaded her boyfriend to camp. Babe knows about being loved, but can't remember liking herself. Nevin is a drunken Essex unemployed builder who hates anything that resembles Freddie and everything Freddie represents.
