Solomon Burke for Cambridge Fringe

| 17 July 2006

This summer the Cambridge Fringe Festival will present over 350 events across more than 120 venues over 17 incredible days.

The festival is encouraging the freedom of expression for the arts, by creating a fringe festival that supports an open arts policy with no artistic vetting.

The spirit of the Fringe is about performances from amazing and unique artists and emerging talents. It offers great variety and many non-commercial shows. Stages are open to any artist who has a talent and would like to share.

In a nutshell, anyone can be a part of the Cambridge Fringe Festival – it is an open access festival, welcoming professionals, semi-professionals and amateurs alike from across the world.

The Cambridge Fringe Festival is now touted as the warm up event to the Edinburgh Fringe with a variety of performers now bringing their shows to Cambridge as a way of expanding their audiences and gaining that all important buzz.

The series of events is also asking satellite villages and towns to get involved, bringing the region closer together. Thousands will be introduced to theatre and music events who previously would never have considered it as entertainment and many will be helped to take to the stage themselves, knowing that they will be given every encouragement and advice to achieve that secret ambition.

The Cambridge Fringe Festival has been developed by committed local man Daniel Hannan who has been involved in International Fringe Festivals for many years.
