Film & Music Tent at Latitude - best ever?

08 June 2006
The brand new Latitude festival takes place at Henham Park, Suffolk, from 14-16 July. Snow Patrol, Antony & The Johnsons, and Mogwai headline with The Lemonheads, The Zutons, Mercury Rev, Regina Spektor, Giant Drag, British Sea Power, Patti Smith and Jose Gonzalez also confirmed. Click here for the full lineup.
But Latitude aims to be much more than just 'bands on stages' with loads of weird and wonderful stuff going on over the weekend. Comedians, magicians, performance artists, interactive shows, burlesque areas, authors and thinkers are just a few of the ingredients you'll find - and unlike other festivals the madness will go on all through the night!
Organisers have now revealed full details of a revolutionary Film & Music Tent - probably the best programmed tents not following follow the basic back-to-back bands formual that VF has ever come across.
There will of course be music, but not in the traditional sense. Mystery Jets will perform a rare acoustic set, Absentee will play a score to their favourite film, and the Memory Band will re-soundtrack cult film The Wicker Man as the sun comes up - bound to be a highlight of the weekend.
Plus
there will be a themed 'Bastille' night to celebrate the 'New French Revolution' of electronica, a 'monsters
and geeks' party where artists and performers will be dressed up, and a closing bash featuring some truly alternative
performances.
The venue will be a huge draw for music film buffs, with around half the weekend dedicated
to films, rockumentaries and animation shorts. Subjects include The Libertines, Kasabian,
UNKLE, the rise of grime, and the New Cross Scene.
If that's already enough to whet your appetite then snap up your tickets here. Otherwise read on for the full programme...
