The UK festival season just got longer...

| 05 June 2006

The End Of The Road Festival takes place at the Larmer Tree Gardens, Salisbury, Wiltshire, from 15-17 September.

The 5,000 capacity event takes over from Isle Of Wight fest, Bestival, as the summer season's closer, with an ethos that organisers hopes will generate an intimate atmosphere bringing bands and audience closer together.

Absentee, Electric Soft Parade, Ladyfuzz, Tilly And The Wall, M Craft, Simple Kid and The Boy Least Likely To are some of the other bands already confirmed to play over the weekend.

As well as being invited to play alternative and longer sets than they normally would, bands are being invited to interact with the audience via workshops, DJ sets, talks and film presentations.

Organisers are also promising quality food and beers and even friendly security!

Sophia Hagberg told VF: "We are doing this for the love of music and not to make a profit, and we are avoiding sponsorships in order to keep our creative freedom. An aim is to involve the bands as much as possible, and there will be room for bands to DJ, hold workshops and show films. A big top will be set up for various films and workshops throughout the weekend."

Heralding from Sweden herself, there will also be a distinct Scandinavian feel to the festival with several acts being brought over from Northern Europe, as well as Swedish food and Viking games!

Weekend camping tickets go on sale priced £95 and kids under 10 go for free. Click here for more.
