First acts for Summer Sundae

Belle & Sebastian, Elbow, and Jose Gonzalez will headline this year's Summer Sundae festival, with many more acts also confirmed for the Leicester three-dayer...

Summer Sundae 2006 takes place at Leicester De Montford Hall and Gardens from Friday to Sunday, 11-13 August.

Other bands set to perform over the festival's four indoor and outdoor stages include Delays, The Buzzcocks, The Long Blondes, Brakes, Forward Russia!, Baxter Dury, The Young Knives, Absentee, DJ Format, Adem, The Blockheads, Vashti Bunyan, and Seth Lakeman.

Festival director Richard Haswell said: "This will be the sixth year of the festival which is now very firmly established in the UK's festival calendar. People always comment on two aspects of the festival - its friendliness and the rich diversity of artists, and we are confident that with this line up - and more annoucements to come - 2006 will be the best year yet."

Tickets are now on sale, priced a very reasonable £75 for the weekend - or £65 if you buy before 31 March. Children under 16 go for £20 and camping is £2. For tickets or more information call the box office on 0116 2333 111.
