Singer Tom Meighan told Teletext: "We're headlining V Festival, up against Radiohead. I like Radiohead,
but I'm well up for taking them on. Every band in Britain is going to be in trouble when we release our next album, it's huge."
Kasabian's follow-up to their eponymous debut is expected to be released in July, meaning V Festival could be the first time that UK fans are treated to the new tracks in a festival environment.
V Festival 2006 takes place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, Essex and Weston Park, Staffordshire, on 19-20 August, with two bills swapping sites over the two days.
The first batch of confirmed acts will be announced here on Virtual Festivals at 5.30pm today (Monday 27 Feb).
Those strongly rumoured to be playing include Beck, Keane, Morrissey, Razorlight, Bloc Party, Hard Fi, Orson, and The Like.
Tickets for V Festival 2006 go on sale at 9am on Friday, 3 March.
