Bestival world record bid

Bestival world record bid

30 August 2005

The dressing up party, to take place at 6.30pm on the Saturday night, is just one of the many quirky things taking place at this year's Bestival.

The three-day boutique festival takes place at Robin Hill Country Park, Isle Of Wight, from 9-11 September.

To get involved in the fancy dress party festival goers will be able to dip into a massive dressing up box supplied by organisers, or bring their own.

Festival currator Rob Da Bank said: "The theme is loosely cowboys and indians, but Bestival goers can come as anything from a Village People cowboy, a fully fledged Bombay belly dancer, or Hiawatha. There are no rules apart from at 6.30pm Saturday night there'll be a procession from the campsite so we want everyone tooled up and ready to rock!"

An official from the Guiness Book Of Records will be on hand to decide whether the record breaking attempt is worthy of a place.

Other wierd and wonderful goings on at Bestival include a Hidden Disco, set somewhere secretly in the festival site and only accessible to people in fancy dress, The Laundrettas, a bunch of gossip hungry laundry workers who'll offer you a cup of tea, a natter and a cuddle! And the Sense 3D Experience, a unique audio visual trip brought to you by the Arts Council Of Britain.

The more conventional side of the festival sees The Magic Numbers, Royksopp, and Super Furry Animals headlining, with British Sea Power, The Rakes, The Go! Team, Lee Scratch Perry, The Earlies, Grand National, and tonnes more on the bill. Click here for the full lineup.
