Speaking exclusively to Virtual Festivals at Reading Festival Gary said: "It's a myth that
the band has disbanded. The Libertines still exist, just with another name that we haven't thought of yet. Carl (Barat) signed
a solo deal but that was basically what we needed to do to carry on the band. Carl's just the front man and the signitory
on the contract.
"Me, Carl and Anthony have all be playing together for a while and recording a new album.
I don't know if John (Hassel) is going to come back. He's doing really well with Yeti and it would be a shame to jeapordise
that, but the door's always open for him."
Gary also revealed that he's written a few songs on the forthcoming
album. He said: "Me and Karl have been writing, so hopefully between us we've got a lot of good stuff."
When
asked whether the band would play Reading again he said: "Yeah, I hope so. If they'll have us. Look at it. It's
amazing!"
