Pixies close fine day of Reading rock

As the last chord of 'Gigantic' rang out across the festival site, Reading was a sea of euphoria. It was a fitting conclusion to an exceptional day of rock that had also featured The Killers, Kasabian, BRMC and, er, Fightstar

The band delivered a greatest hits set on the Main Stage much to the hysteria of their adoring fanbase, whose singing at times drowned out frontman Black Francis. It was a poignant performance that marked their return to the festival after 15 years away.
