The main attraction was the Oxfam Dance Tent, which became a heaving mass
of bodies, as the chilly night air descended outside. DJ's spun a pleasing selection of tunes to suit all tastes from Motorhead
to Muse. Now and again, security demanded a slower song to calm over-excited festival-goers who frequently vaulted roofwards
via the central tent poles. It was the perfect start to the festival and sealed the atmosphere and feverish sense of anticipation
for what was to follow.
Patchy blue skies were a sight for sore heads this morning, and as the Arena gates opened,
a torrent of people swarmed towards the audience to get a good spot. They were greeted by a an explosion of noise and energy,
courtesy of My Chemical Romance who got the action off to a brutally satisfying start. Turbonegro
followed suit and delighted fans by flooding them with paper money!
Strong backstage rumours are hinting that The
Rakes will be joined on-stage by Kele and Russel from Bloc Party during their set which starts at
2.10pm!
