Kylie forced to pull out of Glastonbury

17 May 2005
It was announced yesterday that the 37-year-old had pulled out of the Australian leg of her
Showgirl world tour after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Kylie later confirmed that she was cancelling Glastonbury
as well.
A statement by Glastonbury Festivals read: "Glastonbury Festival was deeply saddened to hear the news,
and all our thoughts are with the singer and her family at this very difficult time. Kylie Minogue's first ever headlining
appearance at the Festival had attracted huge media attention, and will be an extremely hard act to replace. Organisers hope
to make an announcement about the new line-up in the next few weeks."
Possible sollutions include moving Ian
Brown over from the Other Stage to headline the Pyramid or asking New Order (scheduled to play before
Coldplay on Saturday night). There are also rumours that Lauren Hill is booked to play
on the Sunday night. She or Brain Wilson (also on that day's bill) could be contenders. Of course, organisers
could also draft someone totally new in to fill the gap.
Glastonbury Festival 2005 takes place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, from 24-26 June. Click here for more.
