Event organisers Solo said today: "It's fantastic news, we're
over the moon and would like to thank everyone involved for their support over the last four years, it's great to have
the Isle of Wight firmly on the festival map."
Organisers have also unveiled some new features and areas, made possible by the expansion of the site boundaries. They are:
Arboretum: Behind the main field will be an arboretum with a lake surrounded by trees. This area will be open for festival goers to relax and commune with nature!
Improved camping facilities: Organisers will be providing free hot water shower units for all campers, as well as a new easy route to the campsite.
A Cultural Ride: A special open top festival bus will be taking guests to the large open field where in 1970 over half a million fans gathered to watch the likes of Jimi Hendrix, The Who, the Doors and Joni Mitchell. The bus will also be calling in at Dimbola Lodge, an arts centre with a museum and photo gallery, featuring Bob Dylan, Linda McCartney, Charles Darwin, Ellen Terry, David Bailey, Lords Lichfield and Snowden, as well as artefacts from the three original IOW festivals.
