Leeds Festival granted license

23 February 2005
It took less than an hour for the licensing committee at Leeds Civic Hall to give the event
the go-ahead at last night's meeting, in a unanimous vote.
The capacity has once again been set at 52,500, following
last year's sold out event when The Darkness, Green Day and The White Stripes
headlined.
Melvin Benn, director of festivals at Mean Fiddler, said afterwards: "This is great news. Last year's
festival once again demonstrated that Bramham Park is the perfect venue for the North's only music festival and we can now
look forward to another three days of great music and world famous bands in 2005."
No acts have yet been confirmed
but Pixies, Iron Maiden, Foo Fighters, Queens Of The Stone Age
and Kasabian are among those rumoured to be playing.
An announcement as to who will be headlining
is expected in early March, with tickets going on sale shortly afterwards.
