Eavis told the Wells Journal: "We are trying to do something, but it's a big secret at the moment. I am trying to identify something like buying boats or constructing a causeway.
"I want a project which will improve the quality of life for those affected. I am not talking about a small sum of money but something that will be a substantial project, and I would like to go out there and see the progress being made on it."
Glastonbury Festival already does a lot of charity work for organisations
such as Oxfam, Greenpeace, Make Trade Fair, and Water Aid, but it is not thought this latest project will affect any
of these fundraising efforts.
The license application for this
year's event is set to be decided tonight (Monday, 17 January at 6.00pm). If all goes well the festival will
take place between June 24 - 26. Bands rumoured to be appearing include Doves, Bloc
Party, Franz Ferdinand and Razorlight.
Stay posted to Virtual Festivals
for news on the license hearing decision.
