The monthly music magazine, which regularly features the Leicester four piece, also gave awards out to soulful newcomer Sam Smith, singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini, Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, and Wilko Johnson.

The star-studded award show was attended by a number of top names, including Elbow, Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, and Ed Sheeran - who picked up the award for Best Solo Artist.

As usual, there were a number of ‘legendary’ or ‘idol’ titles to serve out and this year this meant nods for Culture Club, Pink Floyd, Simple Minds and The Charlatans.

Kasabian walked away with both the Best Live Act award and the big one: ‘Best Act In The World Today’ for the second time (Ed: really?). The lad-rock outfit from Leicester played a number of high-profile live shows this summer, including a Pyramid Stage headline performance on the final night of Glastonbury Festival 2014 and a huge homecoming show in Leicester's Victoria Park.

The Club Foot four-piece released their fifth studio album, ’48:13’, earlier this year. The record went straight to number one in the UK Albums Chart and spawned two singles; ‘eez-eh’ and ‘bumblebeee’.
