Foo Fighters are currently the favourite with fans on the official forum to headline Download Festival 2015, which would be the first time the easy-listening rock group had played the festival at Donington Park. AC/DC follow in close second as fans remember their infamous performance on their own private stage at the 2010 edition, amid rumours that the band are to headline Glastonbury 2015. System Of A Down, Download headliners for 2005 and 2011, hold third place, while Slipknot, who co-headlined in 2005 and topped the bill in 2009 and 2013, are fourth in the running.

Rammstein, fresh from their Download 2013 smorgasbord of dark delights, are fifth favourites. The last fifteen are currently rated as follows: Green Day, Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Bon Jovi, Muse, Kiss, Van Halen, Motley Crue, Pantera, Guns 'n' Roses, Nine Inch Nails,  Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blink 182, Biffy Clyro, Paramore.

These are not the only bands in the mix, please do not assume it is just these twenty” one Download Festival forum administrator made clear. “We may put up another twenty at a later date”.

However, the current release has already been pleasing the online community of Download-goers, after a divise 2014 line-up that included Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park and Aerosmith. We all want Slipknot... it must happen with this new badass album coming out!” said one fan, while many others were inclined to agree.

While only nine of the suggested acts have never played the festival before – meaning the likes of Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Nine Inch Nails and Green Day would be a coup for Download 2015 – so far, fan responses have been largely inclined to stick with the Download Festival regulars such as Slipknot and System Of A Down, both of whom would be warmly welcomed for the fourth time.

Other forerunning favourites include twice second stage headliners Motley Crue, whose farewell tour is planned for next year, meaning fellow hair-metal lovers would be able to see the band for the last time. Tool provide another interesting headliner choice for Download Festival, as the prog-metal heroes have not surfaced with any new material since 2006 and there remains a possibility that the band's long awaited album may be out by summer 2015.
