The new stage will focus on reggae and everything from ska to dancehall, with the best names in the genre lined up to perform over four days on the Isle of Wight.

The opening day of the stage, Thursday September 4, will feature sets from Toddla T, Dub Phizix, Prince Fatty and Ashley Beedle, who presents Yardism.

Friday is busier still with sets from Congo Natty, SL2, Trojan Sound System, Uzimon and Ghost Writerz.

Jus Now, 1xtra's Robbo Rank, Rodney P, Mr Benn, Shepdog, Jstar, Eva Lazarus, Wrongtom and Count Skylarkin all feature on the Saturday bill, presented by Nice Up!

Closing the Raggae Roots Stage on Sunday will be Jah Shaka, Mad Professor, Natty, Dreadsquad, Rebel Control, The OHMZ, Subculture Sage and Kaptin Is Dead.

Raggae Roots will become just one of more than 20 stages and sound systems at Bestival 2014. Their chief beat-swiller, Rob da Bank said: "It’s no secret that many of us at Bestival HQ are well into dub, reggae, roots and bass music. Having hosted many of the legends of the genre from Lee Scratch Perry to Gregory Isaacs and the Twinkle Brothers it seemed about time we had a stage just for the skankers and the low-end lovers. The soundsystem is gonna be off the scale, the stage is gonna look like a backyard Jamaican dance and you guys are going to make it all happen… in the sunshine… in love with the bass!"

Only yesterday the festival announced dozens of names for Red Bull Music Academy stage.

Bestival 2014 takes place from 4-7 September at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle Of Wight.

OutKast, Foals and Chic featuring Nile Rodgers have all been confirmed to headline the event this September, which will also feature Busta Rhymes, Paloma Faith, Disclosure, Major Lazer, London Grammar, Wild Beasts and Laura Mvula.
