Joining the ranks at Bestival 2014 will be queen of the stage and the pin-up hairstyle, Paloma Faith - who headlines the Sunday night under the Big Top to close the final night of the festival. The 32-year-old from East London is renowned for her retro fashion style, striking soul voice and larger-than-life stage personality - a perfect fit for Bestival, which this year celebrates with a 'Desert Island Disco' theme.

Faith said: "Bestival is the best festival because everyone gets dressed up and I will be too, dressing my band up. It’s so perfect that I should be invited to play at this festival this year because my new album, which is called A Perfect Contradiction, was all influenced by the history of soul music, particularly disco. So, I was listening to artists like Candi Staton, Prince, Chaka Khan, Gloria Gaynor, all of those types of artists, Parliament, Funkadelic, the lot… It is my favourite festival without a doubt, I’m so excited, see you there!"

Now in its 11th year, Bestival returns to its roots in 2014 with Basement Jaxx, who headlined the very first event back in 2004. Felix Buxton of the band said: "It was an honour and a pleasure to headline the very first Bestival - and we are very pleased to be back!"

The final new Bestival addition for today is a legend of the dance floor, Candi Staton. The 73-year-old gospel and soul singer is best known for hits like 'Stand By Your Man' and disco classic 'Young Hearts Run Free'.

Outkast, Foals, Beck and Chic featuring Nile Rodgers have all been confirmed to headline the event this September, which will also feature Busta Rhymes, Disclosure, Major Lazer, London Grammar, Wild Beasts and Laura Mvula.

Bestival organisers have also announced that the popular late night sound-system stage, The Port, will be back by popular demand in 2014 after its debut appearance last year.

The shipwrecked venue, complete with aerial gymnasts and electric pyrotechnics, will see headline DJ sets from Sven Väth, Annie Mac and Chase & Status. Amongst the many names joining them at The Port will be Andy C, Damian Lazarus, Eats Everything, Green Velvet, Jaguar Skills, Gorgon City and Bestival head honcho, Rob da Bank.

Bestival takes place from 4-7 September at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle Of Wight.
