The quintet, who formed in 1986, will make their Damnation Festival debut and their first ever UK festival appearence as part of Damnation Festival's 10th anniversary celebrations this year.

Damnation Festival 2014 will take place on Saturday November 1, once again within the multi-room space of the Leeds University Student Union. The West Yorkshire venue has famously hosted a number of star names through the years, including The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Muse.

Bolt Thrower were one of the first signings to Earache Records in the late eighties, then sharing the label roster with the likes of Carcass and Napalm Death. They went on to record with Colin Richardson, play a total of three John Peel sessions and in 2005 released their eighth and most recent studio album, 'Those Once Loyal'.

Bolt Thrower frontman Karl Willetts said: "Well, we always knew if we were ever going to play a festival in the UK, it would be Damnation Festival; as we've only heard good things about it from mates who've been, and other bands who've played it.

"So we’re chuffed our only UK show of 2014 - and the foreseeable future - will be Damnation’s 10th Anniversary Bash.. Grind on.

Damnation Festival director Gavin McInally added: "In 2005 we asked Bolt Thrower to play Damnation Festival and there hasn't been a year that's passed since that we haven't sent a hopeful enquiry their way so it's with massive relief and delight that we're able to announce our absolute first-choice headliner for Damnation Festival.

"The band are by far and away the most requested group for Damnation Festival so there could not be a more fitting start to out 10th anniversary preparations than to have Bolt Thrower topping the bill."

At least 26 more additions are to be announced across four stages at Damnation Festival, with the first of these additions expected in the spring.

Damnation Festival tickets are on sale now, priced at £36 plus a £3.50 booking fee.
