BBC Radio 6 Music to host their first ever festival

The two day event will take place on Friday February 28 and Saturday March 1 at the indoor venue near the The Quays, Salford, Manchester, which has a capacity of roughly six thousand.

Metronomy, Damon Albarn, Haim, Midlake, The Horrors, Kelis, Luke Sital-Singh and noise rock duo Drenge are, amongst many others, to play the opening day of the festival, Friday February 28.

The National, Franz Ferdinand, Bombay Bicycle Club, Wild Beasts, Nick Mulvey and Mercury Prize winner James Blake are all to play the Saturday the festival, with more acts to be announced live on BBC Radio 6 Music later today.

The full event will be broadcast live on the BBC Radio 6 Music website and feature more than 30 artists and DJs across three stages. BBC Radio 6 Music promising a line-up of artists "with an alternative spirit".

The line-up will be named throughout the day today (Jan 21) on BBC Radio 6 Music, starting from 11am. There are a number of live music acts involved in broadcasting on the radio station who could appear at the festival, include Guy Garvey with Elbow and Jarvis Cocker with Pulp.

BBC 6 Music Festival tickets for both the Friday (Feb 28) and the Saturday (Mar 1) nights will go on sale at 12pm midday this Friday (January 24).

A total of 8500 tickets are available across the two days, with tickets priced at £25 plus a £2.50 booking fee per day ticket and also a transaction charge per booking of £2.31, which covers postage. You will be able to purchase up to four tickets per person.

Under 16’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult over 18 and the minimum age is 12.
