The fifth annual European Festival Awards took place last night (Jan 15) at Groningen’s De Oosterport in The Netherlands, just one of a number events to take place on the opening night of Eurosonic Noorderslag.

German festivals proved the overall winners of the night as the country scooped five awards in total, including 'Best line-up' for Berlin Festival, which took place in early September and featured performances from Blur, Bjork, Pet Shop Boys and M.I.A. Germany's Melt! Festival walked away with the 'Best Medium-Sized Festival' title,'Promoter of the Year' went to FKP Scorpio and the Lifetime Achievement Award went to their competitor, Marek Lieberberg, founder of the twin Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festival.


Daft Punk got another piece of recognition, this time for their unduly overlooked comeback single 'Get Lucky', whilst British rockers Arctic Monkeys walked away with the 'Headliner of the Year' award.

Best Medium-Sized Festival: Melt! Festival

Best Small Festival: FUSION Festival (Romania)

Best New Festival: B.my.Lake

Best Indoor Festival: Metal Hammer Paradise

Headliner of the Year: Arctic Monkeys

Festival Anthem of the Year: Daft Punk - Get Lucky

YES Group H&S Innovation Award: Paleo Festival

The Green Operations Award: Way Out West

Best European Festival Line-Up: Berlin Festival

Newcomer of the Year in association with Eurosonic Noorderslag: Imagine Dragons

Artist’s Favourite European Festival: Lowlands

Promoter Of The Year: FKP Scorpio

Lifetime Achievement Award: Marek Lieberberg
