Arcade Fire to headline Glastonbury Festival 2014

First headliner confirmed for Glastonbury 2014

The Montreal-based band, who released their fourth studio album 'Reflektor' earlier this year, will play the festival on Friday 27 June. They confirmed their appearance at the festival via their Twitter account earlier today.

Arcade Fire last played Glastonbury Festival in 2007 on the Other Stage but will return to play the Pyramid Stage.

Talking to Zane Lowe on Radio One, their lead singer Win Butler said: "It's [Glastonbury] such a communal rite of passage in the UK and there's this communal spirit, the whole thing.

"It'll be at a point of touring when we're scary good, I hope. We're super excited to strap on our wellies and let her rip.

"The Friday is going to be a gorgeous, Californian sunshine day - if it's not, we'll refund your ticket."

Glastonbury Festival 2014 takes place from 25-29 June on Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset.

Tickets to Glastonbury Festival 2014 sold out in record time last month, beating the one hour and 40 minute sale period set in 2012.

Those lucky enough to have got tickets now have to wait until the first week of April in 2014 when the remaining ticket balances of £160 plus a £5 booking fee will be due for both Uk and international buyers.The re-sale date is usually in late April and is expected to be announced for either April 20th or 27th in 2014.
