Two men stabbed at London's Wireless Festival 2013

Incident took place late last night

Chris Swindells - 15 July 2013

The attack took place around 21:00 BST on Sunday (July 15), the final day of Yahoo! Wireless Festival 2013, in Queen Elizabeth park, the Olympic site, East London.

One man in his 20s is currently in a critical condition, and another man, also thought to be in his 20s, is in a stable condition, Scotland Yard has confirmed.

The event took place as Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake began their inaugural 'Legends Of Summer show' at the festival. Both artists had headlined independently over the two previous nights and their closing Sunday night set featured a guest appearance from Rihanna.

Scotland Yard said that they do not believe the incident to be gang-related and suggested that the two victims had become involved in an argument with 10 men. No arrests have been made at present; those with information are encouraged to contact police.

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation should call Newham CID on 0208 217 5851 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

One eyewitness told the London Evening Standard: "There was a small fight in the middle of the crowd but everything carried on because people thought it was all part of the moshpit.

"It then became obvious that it was more serious and security piled in. People were panicky for a short time but the gig carried on."

A festival worker also said: "A massive area in front of the main stage was cordoned off and police were looking for clues. The festival clear-up could not start until 4am."
