The confirmation today of the dates and ticket details for Download Festival 2014 will certainly ease the year long wait for the 90,000 metal and heavy rock fans set to return home tomorrow. Download Festival 2013 hasn’t even seen it’s finale and the organisers are already planning their next Donington Park extravaganza.

Download Festival 2014 will take place 13-15 June, and, as a thank you to fans, Download Festival organisers are offering £10 off the current 2013 prices for a limited number of 5-day camping tickets, 3-day camping and weekend arena tickets. There will only be a limited 5,000 tickets available in the sale, which starts 9am this Friday (June 21).

Friday night saw returning headliners Slipknot give an impressive 9/10 performance that VF reviewer Gavin McInally said closed a "triumphant first night"

Last night (June 15) Download Festival witnessed rock gods Iron Maiden make their record-breaking fifth performance at Donington Park and in another historic Donington moment saw a Spitfire making multiple passes over the amassed crowd there to help celebrate the Maiden England Tour, commemorating their classic 1988 ‘7th Tour Of A 7th Tour’ tour.

Sunday looks set to be no less spectacular as German metal veterans Rammstein prepare a pyrotechnic filled performance to stun and amaze the Download crowds, this will be the first time the Germans have ever played Donington Park, and they’re ready to burn it to the ground. (Metaphorically we hope.)

27% of this year’s Download festival-goers returned after being there last year, and organisers are expecting more commitment when the event returns for its 12th anniversary next June.

Download Festival 2014 will take place 13-15 June, and as a thank you to fans for a limited time Download is offering £10 off the current 2013 prices for 5-day camping tickets, 3-day camping and weekend arena tickets. All tickets go on sale at 9am on 21 June with the offer closing on 1 July. There are only 5,000 available.

Not wanting to start any rumours, as there is no current indication as to who will be playing Download Festival 2014 but it's worth noting that Metallica are set to release their follow up to 2008's 'Death Magnetic' in 2014.
