Walking on to the 'Theme from Retro' at 1:30am, Blur kicked their set off with a blisteringly fast rendition of 'Girls & Boys', which sounded just as joyfully hedonistic as the day it was penned.

In the light of the full moon above, frontman Damon Albarn beckoned upwards and remarked, "Hola to le Luna." Adding, "Sometimes it's great doing this. Tonight's one of those moments."

The Blur comeback has finally come back around to Spain, and Primavera Sound 2013, which last night marked their first European festival show of 2013 and their first in Spain since Benicassim 2003, during the 'Think Tank'-era that saw Blur without their original lead guitarist Graham Coxon.

Coxon stayed typically aloof and reserved during the set, allowing Albarn to make most of the comment, and he seemed content to let his guitar work do his bidding. 'Tender' remained, as it has long been, a big festival favourite and one which inevitably evokes a mass sing-a-long.

'Coffee & TV' and two rare live cuttings from 13, 'Caramel' and 'Trimm Trabb', prove to be the highlights of a set that comes in just over the hour mark. For an encore 'Under The Westway' leaves a powerful reminder that this reunified Blur line-up hasn't given up on its future and is destined to once again produce noteworthy articles of music.

Primavera Sound 2013 has featured performances from Pheonix, The Vaccines, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Breeders and Death Grips. Tonight (May 25) Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Wu Tang Clan and My Bloody Valentine are all set to perform across more than six stages in the coastal city of Barcelona, Spain.

Blur will also headline Primavera Sound's sister festival, Optimus Primavera Sound, which takes place at Parque Da Cidade, Porto, Portugal from 30th May - 2nd June 2013.

The long road of festival slots have only just begun for Blur, who topped the second of two consecutive Coachella weekends last month. Blur continue their festival run through Europe in the summer with dates at Sziget Festival, Open'er Festival, Rock Werchter, Oya Festival and Berlin Festival 2013.
