Germany Rocks is a new competition giving you the chance to enjoy Germany’s biggest music festivals this year. In partnership with the Hamburg Tourist Board and Lufthansa, there are 35 pairs of festival tickets to the biggest and best events taking place from June through to September this year.

Hurricane Festival 2013
21 - 23 June 2013

Location: Scheessel, Lower Saxony

Line-up: Rammstein, Queens Of The Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Portishead, Bloc Party, Billy Talent, Editors, The Smashing Pumpkins, Alt-J.

In 2013 the Hurricane Festival takes place at the Eichenring in Scheessel for the seventeenth time. In that time the festival has welcomed internationally renowned artists, popular German acts and a great number of hot newcomers, from across an eclectic range of genres. Every year more than 120,000 visitors from all over Europe come together for Hurricane Festival and it's sister festival, Southside.

Southside Festival 2013
21 - 23 June 2013

Location: Tuttlingen

Line-up: Rammstein, Queens Of The Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Portishead, Bloc Party, Billy Talent, Editors, The Smashing Pumpkins, Alt-J.

In 2013 the Southside Festival takes place for the fifteenth time. It was established as the Southern German counterpart of the Hurricane Festival, which takes place over the same weekend. In 15 years the three day festival has welcomed artists such as Beastie Boys, Oasis, The Cure, David Bowie, Pearl Jam and The Prodigy. Every year more than 120,000 visitors from all over Europe meet at the Hurricane & Southside Festivals.

Ruhr-in-Love 2013

Location: Olga Park, Oberhausen, Germany

Line-up: Oliver Schories, Sander van Doorn, Moguai, Felix Kröcher, Klaudia Gawlas.

The festival mantra: techno, dance, rave and love. Ruhr-in-Love embraces more than 40,000 electronica fans for one day of digital sound.

Melt! Festival 2013
19-21 July

Location: Ferropolis, Gräfenhainichen

Line-up: Atoms for Peace, Azealia Banks, Alt-J Django Django, Everything Everything, James Blake.

Description: Held in the Ferropolis, a giant open-air museum for dormant mining machinery, the event spreads over 6 floors, and has a line-up to savour with more than 80 of the cutting edge electronic and rock music acts.

Wacken Open Air 2013
1 - 3 August

Location: Wacken, Schleswig-Holstein

Line-up: Rammstein, Lamb of God, Motorhead, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Anthrax, Sonata Artica

Description: One of the biggest heavy metal festivals in the world, Wacken Open Air has more than two decades of history in attracting the biggest names in the genre. From Iron Maiden to Mötley Crüe, the festival has seen them all through the years, and also benefits from a viking village, metal karaoke, pole-sitting contest and football world cup.

Nature One
2-4 August 2013

Location: Kastellaun, Germany

Line-up: Paul van Dyk, Sven Vath, Adam Beyer, Sander van Doorn, ATB

56,000 party people gather annual for Nature One, Germany's largest open air electronic music festival. Expect four days of DJs and live acts, from around the world.

M’era Luna 2013
10 – 11 August 2013

Location: Airport Drispenstedt, Hildesheim

Line-up: Nightwish, HIM, ASP, Front Line, Assembly, IAMX, Staubkind, Front 242

Since 1999 the dark alternative scene across Europe has swarmed to M’era Luna, to spend a peaceful and relaxed weekend with friends and familiar faces. The top-class headliners are not the only attraction for visitors but also the special atmosphere, the medieval market and the extravagant runway show. Every year a wide-ranging supporting program, club nights with DJs and various stalls attract more than 20,000 fans, all in elaborate and outlandish outfits.

MS Dockville 2013
16-18 August 2013

Location: Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg

Line-up: Foals, Woodkid, Baauer, John Talabot, Mac Miller, The Lumineers

Description: MS Dockville takes the impressive but rather unique title as Europe's biggest river island, since 2007 it's built a reputation for merging progressive beats and artwork into a unique city centre setting.

Rock 'n' Heim 2013
16- 18 August

Location: Hockenheimring, Hockenheim, Germany

Line-up: System Of A Down, Biffy Clyro, Tenacious D, Nine Inch Nails, Enter Shikari

Description: A new three day festival in South-West Germany, set in the grounds of the Hockenheimring race track, asserting itself as the home of all things heavy. Nine Inch Nails, System Of A Down, Nero and Deftones deliver a weekend of high octane music in an expansive open air setting.

Rock im Pott 2013
18 August

Location: Veltins-Arena, Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia

Line-up: System Of A Down, Biffy Clyro, Tenacious D, Volbeat, Deftones, Casper
 
Description: The ultimate stadium festival, in the shadow of the former Nordstern colliery, the site has a lively festival feeling and all the mod cons you would expect from a modern stadium. System Of A Down, Biffy Clyro and Tenacious D provide a hefty dose of rock for a day that will be hard to forget.

Berlin Festival 2013
6-7 September 2013

Line-up: Blur, Bjork, Pet Shop Boys, My Bloody Valentine, M.I.A., Justice

Location: Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Berlin

Berlin Festival takes place on 6th and 7th September 2013 at Arena Berlin and the decommissioned Tempelhof Airport. The festival gives you the full Berlin experience with free entry to over 30 clubs across the city that never sleeps.
