Talking to MTV News the Leicestershire rockers gave the biggest hint yet that Rolling Stones will be playing Worthy Farm this June, when guitarist Serge Pizzorno said: "I hope ours is the most talked about performance of the weekend, but that would be a miracle because The Rolling Stones are playing Glastonbury."

Pizzorno added, when talking of Kasabian's Hard Rock Calling set that will take place over the same weekend, that: "It's nice because we'll be christening the Olympic Park and we're playing with Paul Weller and Miles Kane, so it's gonna be a great Saturday night.”

Rolling Stones have long been linked to a top Glastonbury slot and Ronnie Wood, when asked recently about playing Glastonbury for the first time, replied: "I want to do it badly, but I've no idea yet ... but I am just looking forward to. ... I know we're the best live, so I just hope we get it."

The Arctic Monkeys are the only act that look likely at this point to headline the event, which takes place at Worthy Farm, Somerset from June 26-30 2013. The Glastonbury Festival rumour mill has also thrown up the less likely pairing of Rihanna and Prince.

Alt-J are amongst a handful of acts who have confirmed themselves for the Glastonbury Festival line-up, which is due to be announced in full in early April.

All tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2013, estimated to be approximately 140,000 in number, sold out after one hour and 40 minutes last year. A resale date has been confirmed for Sunday 21 April, when a limited number of cancelled tickets will go back on sale.
