Thrash metal titans Slayer, whose twelfth, as-yet-untitled album is set for a 2013 release, have been confirmed to headline the festival, their first outdoor show in the city. Kerry King and co. revealed two songs from the album earlier this year, and their Oya set will be one of many across Europe, including Bloodstock Open Air here in the UK, promoting the new record.

Electric Wizard, one of the UK’s most innovative and well respected doom-metal acts, will also be playing the festival. Renowned for their selective festival appearances, Electric Wizard marked 2012 with a headline appearance at Damnation Festival, and a rare US show at Maryland Deathfest.

Blur have already been announced to headline Oya Festival, as part of a 2013 tour that will include headline appearances at Belgium’s Rock Werchter and Spain’s Primavera Sound.

Acts also playing Oya 2013 include Of Monsters and Men, who have sharply risen to fame following their win of a Battle of the Bands competition in their native Iceland, and Sweden’s Goat, whose 2012 album ‘World Music’ was hailed by several critics as amongst the best releases of the year.

Oya Festival 2013 will take place from 6-10 August 2013.

Tickets for Oya Festival 2013 are on sale now and cost 2350 Krone (approximately £260) for a weeks pass.
