Mastodon and Stone Sour join the Download Festival 2013 line-up

US metallers confirmed for main stage slots

Mastodon, who received considerable crossover success with their fifth record 'The Hunter' in 2011, will play before Iron Maiden, Queens Of The Stone Age, Motorhead and Alice In Chains on the Main Stage at Download Festival 2013 on Saturday June 15th.

Stone Sour, featuring Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor and rhythm guitarist Jim Root, will play a mid-afternoon slot on the Main Stage on Sunday June 16th. Slipknot headline the Friday night of the festival. Taylor has become something of a regular at the festival and made his debut solo acoustic performance there this year.

Mastodon previously played Download Festival in 2007 and played spots on the Reading and Leeds Festival line-ups last year. The band are currently working on material for their sixth as-yet-untitled record which is expected to be recorded in early 2013.

Coal Chamber were added to the Download Festival line-up earlier this month.

Slipknot, Rammstein and Iron Maiden headline the three day event which takes place at Donington Park, Leicestershire from 14th - 16th June 2013.

Download Festival weekend tickets with five nights of camping are available now, priced at £205 plus a delivery fee. Download Festival tickets without out camping are priced at £170, plus a delivery fee. Disabled and family camping are also be available.
