The festival will feature two brand new stages, one of which will be the BBC Radio One Dance Stage with a three day line-up across Reading and Leeds Festivals 2013 to be headlined by Sub Focus.

Headlining the brand new BBC Radio 1xtra stage will be Boy Better Know, a rap and hip hop collective which features JME, Skepta and Wiley.

Deftones will return to play the Main Stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals for the first time since 2011, this time playing tunes from their latest album 'Koi No Yokan', released earlier this month. Read our review of their 2011 Reading Festival performance.

After the success of their Mercury Prize winning debut 'An Awesome Wave', Alt-J will take to the top of the bill in the NME/Radio 1 Stage.

So far no headline acts have been confirmed for the festivals but Deftones will join Zane Lowe live on BBC Radio One from 7pm tonight to chat about the festival. Black Sabbath, Blur, Arctic Monkeys and Green Day have all been rumoured to headline the festivals next August.

Festival boss Melvin Benn has been planning these exciting changes and additions to the festivals over the past year, he said: “This is a dynamic time for the festivals. Not only do we have a fresh look for next year, but we are also adding to the fans’ experience of the festival with the introduction of more stages and genres of music, which also inevitably means an increase in the number of artists playing across the weekend.

“The addition of the hip-hop stage and the extension of the dance line-up to a three day stage - whilst not losing the essence of what Reading & Leeds Festivals are about across the existing Main, NME/Radio 1, Festival Republic and Lock Up Stages - are the things that really excite me."

Across both sites there will be more live acts on the line-up. At Reading Festival the arena will be expanded by approximately a quarter and a second arena entrance will be created to ensure easier access for festival goers. At Leeds Festival the site will be altered slightly so that fans will be able to explore the woods for late night entertainment, with details yet to be announced, so stay tuned for further updates.

Reading Festival 2013 will take place in Richfield Avenue, Reading from 23-25 August 2013 with access to the campsite from Thursday 22d August and early entry access from Wednesday 21st. Leeds Festival 2013 will take place in Bramham Park, Wetherby, Leeds over the same weekend with similar arrangements.

Reading and Leeds Festival 2013 tickets go on general sale tomorrow (Friday November 30) at 9am and will priced at 2012 prices (£197.50 plus booking fee for a weekend ticket) until Monday 31 December 2012.

The festivals will also be introducing a £50 deposit scheme for 2013, meaning fans can guarantee a place at the bash early and pay the full balance before March 31, 2013.

The Cure, Kasabian and Foo Fighters headlined the twinned festivals this year. Click here for our full Reading & Leeds 2012 coverage, including reviews, photos and videos.
