The Main Stage headline performance on Friday 14th June will be a UK festival exclusive for 2013.

John Giddings, the Festival’s promoter, said: “When you talk about the soundtrack of our lives, The Stone Roses are embedded in it. I am so proud to get them to our island- they will kick the weekend off with a bang.”

The Isle of Wight Festival takes place from 13 - 16 Jun 2013 at Seaclose Park, Newport on the island and will celebrate its 11th anniversary in 2013 after the original event, held 1968-1970, was revived in 2002.

The band confirmed last month three large outdoor shows, two in London and one in Glasgow, next June, prior to the Isle of Wight Festival 2013.

Isle of Wight Festival organisers, Solo, last week won a licence review hearing on the island to keep the event at its home in Seaclose Park, Newport after a challenge from local aerospace firm GKN.

Since reforming earlier this year the 'Madchester' legends entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest selling UK dates in history after selling 220,000 tickets for their three shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park in 2012.

The Stone Roses were recently in the news when guitarist John Squire's art studio burnt down at his home in Macclesfield, Cheshire, after catching fire last Wednesday.

Bon Jovi, Muse and David Guetta are all rumoured to play the Isle of Wight Festival 2013 and many are expecting further announcements this week.

Isle Of Wight Festival tickets are to go on sale this Wednesday morning, with a 48 hour presale available for Vodafone customers. Stay tuned to Virtual Festivals for more details as we get them.
