The britpop band are the first to be confirmed for the dual festivals, which take place a week apart in Barcelona and
then Porto.
The shows now mark three live dates confirmed for Blur
in 2013 after the band announced they would play
Rock Werchter in July.
Blur rose to fame in the 90's thanks
to records like 'Parklife', 'Girls & Boys', 'Country House' and 'Song 2'. After a
set of critically lauded reunion shows in 2009, including Glastonbury Festival 2009, the band returned last
summer to headline the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony Concert in London.
At the time of the Olympic
Closing Ceremony show rumours were circulating that it would be their last. When asked if it would be the last live show for
Blur, in an interview with The Guardian, lead singer Damon Albarn replied: "I think
so, yeah. In all likelihood, I would say so."
In an online announcement Blur
said: "Thank you for waiting... Rock Werchter is about to announce that Blur will headline next July. We're excited.. hope to travel in 2013 to play to more of our lovely fans
who we haven't seen for a while. Don't know where yet, we'll tell as soon as we do.."
No further Blur shows have been confirmed for 2013 but amongst the European dates a handful
of British festivals are in the running for Blur
shows, with Reading and Leeds a strong rumour.
Barcelona Primavera Sound tickets for 2013 are
available now for 145 € (approximately £117)
Optimus Primavera
Sound tickets are available now priced at 80 € (approximately £64)
A combined
Barcelona Primavera Sound 2013 and Optimus Primavera Sound 2013 ticket is available at a price of € 200
