Frontman Dave Grohl told the crowd during the performance: "This is it, man. We don't have any [shows]
after this. This is the show where we come out and we play as many songs as we can in a short period of time, because honestly,
I don't know when we're going to do it again." Watch the announcement being made in the video below.
The announcement sparked rumours that this is the end for Foo
Fighters which a spokesman firmly denied in conversation with MTV, saying: "They are definitely not breaking
up."
Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters' frontman and former Nirvana drummer, is currently working
on a documentary film about the legendary Van Nuys, California studios.
The band, who headlined Reading and Leeds Festivals in August of this year, have released seven studio albums and headlined
festival line-ups across the world, including Isle of Wight Festival, V Festival, Coachella
and Lollapalooza.
Foo Fighters
previously took a gap from touring between 2007's 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace' and 2011's 'Wasting
Light', using the time to release a greatest hits compilation and to allow individual band members to focus on solo projects.
