**Update 27/09/2012** Download Festival announced today (September 27) Slipknot as the third and final headliner for Download Festival - to headline Friday night. Pearl Jam could still appear elsewhere on the line-up but it looks increasingly unlikely, follow Virtual Festivals on Twitter and Facebook for all the latest news and rumours as we get them.
Vodafone posted an update, since deleted, through their Facebook page which said: "Vodafone customers can buy their tickets to Download Festival 2013 now, 48 hours before the general sale. Pearl Jam, Iron Maiden, & Ramstein fans, hit LIKE & get yours now!"

The US grunge-rock icons, still to be officially confirmed, will headline the Friday night and join Rammstein (Sunday) and Iron Maiden (Saturday) as the final headliner to be announced for the three day metal festival in June.
Pearl Jam formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990 and
since then are estimated to have sold 60 million albums worldwide. They were key players in the explosion of the grunge scene
in the early nineties, alongside Nirvana and Soundgarden. They released their ninth studio album, 'Backspacer', in
September 2009, and last played the UK in June this year when they played two nights at Manchester's MEN Arena
and headlined Isle Of Wight Festival as part of their 2012 European tour.
Download Festival 2013 takes place
at Donington Park, Leicestershire from 14th - 16th June 2013.
Iron Maiden were confirmed to play Donington for
the fifth time in their career, 25 years after they played their first Monsters Of Rock festival there in 1988.
Download Festival 2013 tickets are currently not
on sale. Weekend tickets with five nights camping will be priced at £205 plus a booking fee. Weekend tickets with three
nights camping will be priced at £195, plus a booking fee.
Download Festival weekend tickets
without camping are priced at £170, plus a booking fee. Disabled and family camping will also be available.
Download Festival tickets go on general sale 9am this Friday (September 28).
The announcement would give more validity to the poster image below posted by an anonymous internet user last week. Queens Of The Stone Age have already announced European festival dates in 2013 and Stone Sour have announced plans to tour in 2013, supporting claims these two will feature alongside Pearl Jam, Rammstein and Iron Maiden.
