Weather Watch: Reading, Leeds and Creamfields
Plus the forecast for South West Four
Chris Eustace - 21 August 2012
Early entry ticketholders heading to Reading Festival 2012 tomorrow will have a dry day with some hazy evening sunshine, with temperatures reaching 19-20°C, as well a clear night.
It’ll be slightly cooler when everyone else begins to arrive at the site on Thursday, with a largely cloudy day with some sunny spells in prospect. A dry and bright start on Friday will give way to showers in the afternoon, which may turn blustery and heavy in the evening, with a risk that may continue during The Cure’s set.
Saturday will also be windy, with frequent showers in the early part of the day, though these should be lighter than Friday’s,
and should give way to brighter weather in the afternoon, with the night set to remain dry. Sunday will bring a mixture of
light showers and sunshine, but Foo Fighters should get
to play a rain-free set to close the festival.
Leeds Festival 2012
Leeds Festival 2012’s Wednesday earlycomers should also get a sunny afternoon and a cloudy evening with bright spells, though showers from the morning and the previous day may mean there’s some wetter ground to pitch their tents on. A cloudy Thursday will then see some light rain in the late evening as the entertainment begins, with temperatures peaking at 18°C.
Friday will be cloudy with the odd bright spell until the early evening, with light rain then turning heavy. It’s likely to last through Foo Fighters and through the early part of the night.
Saturday will make a drizzly start with the odd sunny spell, though this will tempered by high winds and a high chance of lunchtime thunderstorms. While these will pass fairly quickly, the rest of the afternoon will feature heavy rain for the most part, but there should be a few brighter moments, with things finally clearing late in the evening.
Heavy showers with sunny spells should also be a feature of Sunday, with highs of 20°C, but the evening should be dry,
if cloudy, in time for Kasabian’s closing set on the
South West Four 2012
For those heading to South West Four 2012 to see the likes of Chase & Status and Skrillex on Clapham Common, both Saturday and Sunday will see light showers mixed with sunny
spells, with things drying out in the evening. While it’ll be breezy at times, it should still be quite warm, with temperatures
reaching between 18-20°C.
Finally, dance fans heading to the Daresbury Estate in Halton, Cheshire for Creamfields 2012 can expect the ground to be dry after a clear Thursday night as they put their tents up, but Friday will become unsettled in the early evening, with outbreaks of rain and heavy showers. There’s likely to be more of the same on Saturday, and while there may be a chance of some occasionally brighter weather, there’s an equally good chance of thunderstorms in the early afternoon.
It’s likely to rain through most of Sunday too, again with the odd sunny respite, but despite some moderate winds, things should stay quite humid, with temperatures peaking at around 17-20°C for the weekend as acts including Avicii, David Guetta, Sebastian Ingrosso, Deadmau5 and Tiesto.
