Weather Watch: V Festival, Beautiful Days and more
Forecasts for Green Man, Strummer Of Love and Beacons too
Chris Eustace - 16 August 2012
V Festival 2012
Punters heading down to Hylands Park for V Festival Chelmsford will have a dry and humid Friday night, with Saturday mostly bright with the odd cloudy spell, with temperatures peaking at 27C around lunchtime.
While temperatures will stay high for Sunday, there’s a risk of heavy, thundery showers in the afternoon, though the sun should be out by late evening, with things staying clear as The Killers close the festival.
Festivalgoers arriving at Weston Park for V Festival Staffordshire will also get a dry Friday night, though the campsite may be a bit wetter, as frequent showers are expected earlier on. Saturday will see them return for most of the afternoon, though things will brighten up towards the evening, with temperatures likely to reach 23C.
A dry start to Sunday will give way to yet more showers, though there should be some sunny spells too. A little bit cooler at 19C, the rain should clear in time for The Stone Roses’ headline set.
Anyone pitching up at Summer Sundae Weekender in Leicester today has a warm if breezy and cloudy evening in prospect, though it’s likely to rain during the night.
It’ll stay warm on Friday, but it’s set to remain cloudy with frequent showers and light winds, though there’s a chance of some late evening sunshine. A cloudy start on Saturday will lead to sunshine and showers for most of the day, though the evening should brighten up once more, with temperatures reaching 24C.
Similarly, Sunday will see bright spells mixed with showers, which may turn thundery in the late afternoon, though things should calm down by late evening.
Beautiful Days in Devon will have a wet, blustery start, continuing throughout most of Friday, though there should be some respite in the late evening. Showers will continue until late on Saturday afternoon, when things will finally brighten up, with a high of 22C that day. The rain will return on Sunday morning, but the afternoon should bring drier, if overcast, weather which should last until the end of the sold out event.
Green Man 2012
It’ll be cloudy and breezy with frequent outbreaks of rain, some of it heavy, tonight and tomorrow at Green Man in the Brecon Beacons, with lighter showers mixed with sunny spells for much of Saturday and Sunday, though both evenings should be rain-fee. It’ll feel muggy at times, with temperatures peaking between 20-22C for most of the weekend.
Strummer of Love 2012
It’ll be a warm but wet start to Somerset’s Strummer Of Love, with overnight wind and rain set to last into Friday, briefly letting up for a time in the afternoon. Saturday will be brighter, with early morning showers clearing to leave a warm and bright day, with highs of 23C. Sunday will see heavy showers with sunny spells until the evening, when things should settle down for some late sun before Mick Jones’ Justice Tonight Band end proceedings.
Beacons in Skipton will begin with heavy rain for much of Thursday night and Friday, before things finally clear towards the evening, leaving a sunny and warm Saturday with highs of around 22C, though there maybe a chance of a light lunchtime shower, and Sunday afternoon will be much the same after a cloudy start.
