Nicki Minaj's V Festival shows in doubt?

Chris Eustace - 14 August 2012

In a series of tweets following some American TV appearances yesterday, the rapper said: “The doctor has asked me to take 2 wks of voice rest… But... I'd have 2 miss both shows tmrw, ^ 2 UK festivals, + Dublin."

Revealing that she was suffering from a bruised vocal chord, she then said: “Doctors orders Out for the count now…another x-ray cming up!”

It’s thought that the results of this next x-ray will determine whether Minaj plays the shows or not.

The ‘Super Bass’ star has made plenty of festival headlines this summer already - according to the Press Association, the rapper has “ordered a Winnebago just for her wigs” at the festival, while she caused controversy at T In The Park in June with rumours of diva-like behaviour, taking to the stage nearly an hour late and playing for just 25 minutes.

The Sun quoted a ‘source’ as saying: “Nicki went off on one about the grass around her area, saying it was far too long for her to walk on. She threw a complete strop, pouting and pointing and asking someone to get a lawnmower to sort it out.”

Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls, who were on before Minaj, took to Twitter to register their displeasure at Minaj’s antics, with Turner saying: “Nicki Minaj has been being a total selfish shithead to all the hardworking crew backstage at T. Pathetic. Fuck off. You can (I suppose) be a dick to your own crew, you're paying them. But everyone else? And not to mention the people out front. Ugh”, later posting a blog to clarify his comments.

The rapper later claimed that the grass story was untrue, telling Australia's Sunday Herald Sun: "It's the most absurd thing I've heard printed about me in a very long time. I went to the festival happy to have an outdoorsy-type experience. Why would I go somewhere and ask somebody to cut grass? It's sad because I can't defend myself against these lies.''
