First goCarShare session now online

Liftshare website unveils first festival roadtrip video

Chris Eustace - 17 July 2012

The first session features New York “pop cock-rock” band Mother Feather as they head to their first UK performance at Nova Festival, with further episodes promising “more bands jamming enroute and impromptu shenanigans.”

Laurel Collective will be up next as they head to Secret Garden Party this weekend, and even if you can’t give them a lift, goCarShare have teamed up with the festival to try and encourage people to travel in full cars, with a ‘green tax’ of £2.50 on empty car seats at the festival.

goCarShare is free to use, with sharers contributing to the overall cost of the journey through a recommended tariff. With an easy-to-use interface, goCarShare is built around Facebook so users can screen who they pair up with, using information pulled through from Facebook and find people who are friends of friends and have similar musical tastes.

There’s also an eBay style rating system to help weed out any bad drivers or unreliable passengers. Over 7,000 people have signed up since its launch.

Check out the festival area on the goCarShare site to see if the festival you want to go to is listed, with many smaller ones included alongside major names such as Reading & Leeds, V, Bestival, Boardmasters, Green Man and WOMAD.
