Muse have been forced to pull out of their remaining three dates
on The Cure's Curiosa Tour of the States.
Since their early return home at the
weekend, Chris has visited a specialist in an attempt to assess the damage to his hand, injured during a fall at the
end of last week.
But it seems whatever the outcome, the band are determined for their two headline shows at the
two V Festivals to go on.
A statement issued by the prog-rockers read: "Muse are at present
awaiting test results and further medical counsel regarding the injury. The band is also currently investigating other alternatives
should Chris not be able to take to the stage this weekend for their headlining slot at the V Festival 2004 in Chelmsford
and Stafford. But Muse are committed
to finding a way to complete their summer live schedule."
Chris' injury means it is the second time this summer that Muse have been faced with the prospect of cancelling live shows. Just after their headline performance
at Glastonbury in June, drummer Dominic Howard's father, Bill, tragically died. The band were
forced to pull out of one gig in Italy but honoured their remaining live commitments.
Muse are scheduled to play both legs of the V Festival this coming weekend.
