Weather Watch: Isle Of Wight and Radio 1's Hackney Weekend
Here are your festival forecasts for this weekend
Chris Eustace - 21 June 2012
Campers heading to the Isle Of Wight Festival 2012 today will be met by cloudy skies, with frequent outbreaks of rain, in danger of becoming heavy at times. Things will be brighter in the afternoon, but the threat of thundery showers will remain as people head into the Big Top for Primal Scream. It’ll be warm, though, with highs of 16C.
The rain will continue into Friday morning , with sunshine and showers throughout the day, though things should be dry for Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ headline set. Blustery winds will keep things cooler, with temperatures peaking at 15C.
The strong winds will be a feature for much of Saturday (23 June) too, with temperatures similar to the day before, and the afternoon’s brighter spells will turn to rain by the evening, possibly into Pearl Jam’s performance.
Sunday (24 June) will be warmer, with less wind and temperatures hitting 17C in the latter part of the afternoon. A generally overcast day will once again see sunshine and scattered showers, though these should clear in time for Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band to close out the festival.
Meanwhile, the Radio 1 Hackney Weekend 2012 in London will also see a mixture of sunshine and showers when Jay-Z tops the bill on Saturday, with rain then likely for most of Sunday, becoming heavy by the evening during Rihanna’s headline set. Temperature-wise, it’s set to be cool across the weekend, with highs of 16-17C.
